Your data in Pingr: export, import and delete

A document glyph with a plus sign on a blue disc, standing for your data as a file you can take with you

By the Pingr team. Published . Updated . Last verified:

In Pingr, open Settings, then Data to export everything as JSON, a spreadsheet, a PDF or a calendar file, and to import an .ics file. To leave, open Settings, then Account and delete your account. Export and deletion stay available even if your trial or subscription has ended.

You should be able to take your reminders with you and to leave completely. Pingr gives you both from inside the app, with no support ticket. This guide covers what you can export, how an import behaves, what stays on your phone, how to turn off the AI and how deletion works, including the one thing deletion does not do.

Export

Open Settings, then Data. Under Export there are four choices, and each hands you a file through the Android share sheet so you can save it or send it anywhere:

Export formats
FormatWhat is in itGood for
JSONReminders, tasks, lists, tags and settings in one fileA complete copy
Spreadsheet (.xlsx)Items, lists and tagsExcel or Sheets
PDFA readable copyPrinting or keeping
Calendar file (.ics)Events, tasks and remindersAny calendar app

Exports need a connection, because the file is made on the server. If you export several times in a short while, Pingr may ask you to try again later. If the share sheet is not available on your phone, the screen says so.

Import a calendar file

Under Import choose Import a calendar file (.ics). Pick a file ending in .ics, up to 2 MB, from Google Calendar, Apple or Outlook. Pingr reports what happened: how many items were imported, how many were already in Pingr, and how many were skipped, with a short list of examples. A file imported twice does not duplicate, so it is safe to try again. This is also a good way to bring in a school or work timetable.

Your phone's own calendars

Under Phone calendar, "Show my phone's calendars" overlays the calendars already on the phone. It is read only, and Pingr never changes your phone's calendar. Turning it off removes the overlay and nothing else.

Turn off the AI

AI features, meaning reading a sentence into a draft, Ask Pingr, Plan my day and summaries, are on by default. Settings, then AI, has a switch called Use the AI assistant. Turning it off hides quick entry, chat and summaries, and nothing is sent to an AI provider while it is off. The local reader for plain dates keeps working, because it runs on your phone.

Delete your account

  1. Optional but wise: export your data first. The delete screen links straight to it.
  2. Cancel your subscription in Google Play. Deleting the account does not cancel it, and the screen says so with a Cancel in Google Play row.
  3. Open Settings, then Account, then Delete account.
  4. Enter your password, or sign in again if you use Google or GitHub, type the confirmation word and confirm.

Deletion removes your account and everything linked to it, including items, lists, guests, sessions and Google tokens, in one step. It cannot be undone. Pingr also asks its subscription provider to delete your customer record, which is best effort. Items you delete during normal use are kept for 180 days so that a phone that was offline can still learn of the deletion, and then they are removed by a daily job.

If your plan ends

If a trial or subscription ends, Pingr keeps your data. You can still sign in, export it and delete your account, but you cannot use the features until you subscribe again. See the privacy policy for retention details and the FAQ for billing.

What is inside the spreadsheet

The spreadsheet has three sheets: Items, Lists and Tags. The Items sheet has a row per item with columns for type, title, list, start, end, due, all day, place, repeats, priority, done and created. Items you deleted are left out. The Lists sheet shows each list's name, whether it is shown in the calendar, and when it was created, and the Tags sheet has the tag names. It opens in Excel or any spreadsheet app, which makes it easy to sort, filter or hand a copy to someone. The PDF carries the same information as plain text lines, so it is for reading rather than for editing.

A tidy exit, step by step

If you decide to leave, export the JSON file first as your complete copy, then the calendar file if you want your events in another calendar app. Cancel in Google Play, wait for the confirmation there, and only then delete the account in Pingr. Doing it in that order means you are never charged for an account that no longer exists, and you keep a copy of everything you made.

Where Pingr is not the best fit

Import reads calendar files only; there is no importer for other apps' task formats. Export needs a connection and is limited if you ask too often. There is no web version where you could download things from a laptop, since Pingr is an Android app. If you want your data stored only on your phone with no server, Pingr is not built that way: it syncs through its own server so your items appear on every device you sign in on.

Want to look around first? Get the app and open Settings, then Data.

Questions and answers

Can I export if my subscription has ended?

Yes. Export and account deletion stay available without an active trial or subscription, and your data is kept.

Does deleting my account cancel my subscription?

No. Only Google Play can cancel it, so cancel there first. The delete screen links to it.

Will importing the same file twice create duplicates?

No. A file imported twice does not duplicate, and Pingr tells you how many items were already there.
